To ensure the safe and orderly operation of sewage transportation, treatment and pipe network during typhoons, drainage companies have taken multiple measures to build a solid "safety line"
This year's 14th typhoon "Prasang" will affect Shanghai. In order to effectively protect the normal life of the people, Qingpu Drainage Operation Co., Ltd. has implemented various measures in advance around key areas of production and jurisdiction, checked various safety hazards, and ensured the safety and order of sewage transportation and treatment, sludge treatment and disposal, and pipe network operation during the typhoon.
At a pipe overflow point on Haiying Road, the pipeline maintenance personnel of the drainage company found that there may be a risk of blockage after on-site inspection, resulting in the inability to discharge the accumulated water smoothly. In order to eliminate the hidden dangers, the staff used professional mechanical equipment to dredge the pipeline, crushed and dredged the blockage, and used a scoop net at the wellhead to remove the remaining dirt to eliminate the risk of overflow.
"Before the typhoon arrives, we will strengthen inspections, clean up overflow-prone wells in a timely manner, and dredge the pipelines with dredging vehicles to ensure that the pipelines are unobstructed and prevent the risk of overflow on the roads during the typhoon. We have formed 6 teams, each with 10 personnel, to carry out maintenance work in the jurisdiction. At present, more than 2,000 wells in the entire district have been cleared and dredged." Meng Lingchao, deputy chief of the pipeline engineering department of Qingpu Drainage Operation Co., Ltd. said.
At present, the drainage company has carried out various hidden danger inspections, inspected the main equipment such as sewage transportation and sewage treatment, and repaired the faulty equipment in time to ensure the maximum sewage transportation and sewage treatment during the rainstorm. At the same time, the main municipal pipelines in Xiayang and Yingpu streets in the urban area were pre-lowered. The inspection personnel conducted uninterrupted inspections of the monitoring points of pipeline overflow in the jurisdiction 24 hours a day, and grasped the situation of the pipeline network through inspections to keep the pipelines unobstructed.
It is reported that the sewage transportation and sewage treatment production front-line personnel of the drainage company work 24 hours a day, pay attention to the changes in water volume at any time, strengthen water pumping and allocation, take measures such as pre-lowering water levels, and each pump station transports sewage 24 hours a day. A water retaining plate is set up at the entrance of the pump room, and the sludge plant is equipped with special sandbags for flood prevention to prevent water from backflowing on the road. For the water in the pump station, temporary pump forced discharge measures are set up to prevent the water from entering the pump room and flooding the equipment.
